United Nations Day Celebration 2014 - 102314 - Part 2

MITIS Model of United Nations General Assembly

To be honest, when we were practicing for this General Assembly, I didn't feel anything but excitement and enthusiam. But when the actual day came, as the time ticked, nervousness enveloped me. I tried to listen to the presentation of the agencies that came first before ours, but I didn't understand anything. As what I told Joel, it was hard for something to enter your mind when you're already pressured and nervous. I think a part of that nervousness was to maintain how we present it---should exactly be the same as how we present it to the class, but I knew it wouldn't be---larger number of audience and teachers eyeing on you, how could you?! While waiting for our turn, I just kept on talking to people near me, specifically EJ, Alvin (who was texting his researchers), and Joel. Because of boredom, I heard Joel singing Kendra's ad (first time to ever do so). Haha!

When Sir Nate called our agency, we didn't hear it (even if we were already near the podium; we thought he was saying something else), so he repeated. The crowd went wild, well not literally wild, just screams and cheers that added pressure. If there was just this audience impact in the grading component, I thought. While presenting, I can feel my knees trembling, my cold sweat trickling, and my hands shaking. I didn't sttuter that much, I think. I was also distracted with their side comments. Hahaha! But after all, we did it, and we survived from presenting and the judges' and students' questions (thanks to Myra). After presenting, everybody was clapping, so I felt happy that they are at least satisfied on what we gave them. While walking to our seats, Dr. Santos called us and shook our hands and said, "You did a great job." (not the exact words).

Meanwhile, we were shocked to know that RC did win in the UN Impromptu Speech. Although we were not expecting it, we're still proud of him! With the result of the Creative Writing Contest for our category, Nico Clemente did it. I personally didn't expect that to happen. To be honest, I wasn't expecting myself to win. I know my essay there was so unorganized and didn't have a claim, as far as I can recall. Myra and I were expecting EJ or Audrey to win. Hay, expectations.

After, Sir Richmond announced the winners of the General Assembly. When he was announcing the winners of the Best Presenters, Sir Lyle alongside EJ and Alvin shouted and said, "Go Charles!" I was shocked. I know we wouldn't make it as the Best Presentors, but I appreciated the fact that they shouted and cheered for me whole-heartedly with sincerity and enthusiasm. When it's time to announce the winner for the Best Presentation, we were already nervous, and suddenly our agency was called! I immediately stood up of my seat and clap. Wow! What a wonderful Thursday, to be honest.

After, we had our Donut Party courtesy of the Social Studies Department and MITIS and Kenny's Fancy Donuts that he brought in the morning.

More victories to come, Grade 8!

(SADLY, I WASN'T ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES, AND I AM LAZY TO GRAB PICTURES FROM MY CLASSMATE's ACCOUNT TO PUT IT IN HERE. SO SORRY.)
