After Milan

I am a fan of Shakira (since The Voice 6), and people who know me know this that most of the songs in my phone are Shakira's songs.

I saw this news and was very delighted to know! But at the same time, I was sad because she might not be returning to the Emmy-award-winning show The Voice on NBC.

Nonetheless, congratulations Shak! Milan will have his sibling soon! I love yaaaa!

Should You Worry?

I received those messages last night. Hey, I'm not doing anything wrong, ha? The randomness of this guy~ And these messages reminded me of what Miss Yo (our English teacher) told the class during our discussion of a short story entitled "The Ransom of Red Chief."

What she said was, "Why do parents worry about the safety of their child but not worry about the safety of others from their child?" It's funny but true.

Is it because of the news we hear? (Yes. All dangers are broadcasted nowadays to raise awareness~) And because of these news, they believe that strangers are not trustworthy (is trust given or earned?)?

Is it because they are confident that their child will not do anything wrong? Is it because they know that they have planted good manners to their child?

Well, I am sure that current news broadcasts play a big role on why parents worry about their child. Most of the things broadcasted on television, radio, and newspapers are all about hazardous things.

And whenever their child is far from their parents, for sure, you would think that people have evil thoughts against someone. You know, when you're in a public place, it is inevitable for people to judge you by your looks (or how you treat them, even if you're a stranger). I admit that most of the time, a thought enters my mind: this person may be planning about getting my things, something like that.

On the other hand, it is very normal for parents to worry about their child. Look, it's their child. They can't do anything to change that (this may sound negative for you HAHA). Second, yeah, they may be confident that you won't do anything (except for unplanned ones) wrong because they know they taught you and raised you well. That means they trust you! But remember, parents, it's still up to your child if s/he will follow you.

It is normal to worry about your child's safety from others. But do not forget to worry what your child will do to others. :)

Biyahe~

Hallo!

Grabe ang traffic nowadays lalo na't maulan pa! Kaya take a look at those photos. 'Yan 'yung mga photos that I took while inside the LRT 1 and pila going to MRT 3's platform (inside Alphaland Southgate Mall).

Well, mas madali pumila sa LRT and hindi masyadong masikip kaysa sa MRT. Biruin mo ba namang from outside of the mall all the way sa third floor may pila?! And meron pang isang pila sa labas na napagkahaba. Every rush hour sa EDSA, pipila ka talaga for 30 minutes. Patience is truly a virtue.

Pero salamat na rin kay Athena and EJ for making my trip light. Ka-chat ko kasi sila eh. Pero careful ha? Raming magnanakaw today~

The Trending Expression at MITIS

Halloo, Halloo! That is the trending expression in MITIS. I am not sure if that is the spelling ha.

We first heard this from Miss Yo. Sir Richmond and Miss Sara were also saying this one time. I don't know why teachers' expressions are so contagious! And Grade 8 started saying the same thing too! HAHAHA

This isn't the first time that we used the expression used by the teachers. Here are some expressions we also used:
1. Ayaw Pakabog! - used when someone does something really good / amazing and doesn't settle for something s/he doesn't like
2. Ibang Level! - used when someone does something unusual and amazing
3. Mag-Sorry Ako / Ikaw / Tayo - used when someone does something really good / amazing
4. Bet / Hindi Bet - used when you do / don't like something
5. This is so unfab! - used when you don't like something / something's not fabulous or un-fab
6. Keri! - you manage to do something even if it's challenging you (so much)
7. Chos! / Charot! - used every after a joke

HAHAHA <3

On-The-Spot Tanaga Writing Contest

Totoo talaga ang kasabihang, "Expect the unexpected." Hay! Salamat sa Panginoon! :) Hanggang sa susunod! HIHI

Sweets from Bangladesh

Last Friday, Jane shared some sweets from Bangladesh!

I tasted one. Actually, before tasting one, Athena and I were arguing because of my "kaartehan." I just don't like sharing chopsticks with her or anybody else (she licked the chopsticks first then got another one for me). She said that we won't be making a child naman daw after sharing the chopsticks kaso hindi ko talaga kaya eh. I don't like sharing spoon, fork, or glasses with people. I just don't find them... Ah basta. Jane doesn't like sharing those things too, according to her. Pero I respect everybody's opinion, beliefs, customs, traditions, and total ways of life. Sa madaling salita, culture. HAHAHA (Social Studies !_!)

The sweets were nice ha! Masarap! The one I tasted tastes like a donut that is more special, I guess. Must try!

Traffic Problems

Talaga nga namang super duper, grabe, sobra, raise to 1 million ang traffic sa EDSA these days! Ang hirap dumiretso sa destination mo by bus kasi sobrang unpredictable kung anong oras ka dadating (ayokong ma-late, may minus points, unexcused pa naman if your reason of being late is because of traffic).

As a solution, nag-e-MRT ako. E, nakakakaba kasi sunud-sunod ang balita about problems with the MRT. Nakakatakot pa if maaksidente or something (Oh God, no!) or tumirik yung train in the middle of the trip / between stations.

Grabeng init! Siksikan at sardinasan pa! Aba matinde! Kaya siguro bumagal ang service nila kasi binagalan ata ang takbo ng trains (from 60kph to 40kph, tama ba?)

Well, sana ma-solve pa ito ng government natin.

This was the line going to the MRT Magallanes Station.
This photo was taken last August 22, 2014, around 7PM at Magallanes Station.

Prepping for the Report

At 2:00 AM, I am still awake. HAY!

I just finished doing our powerpoint presentation for our report in Social Studies class. My team will be reporting about the Upper and Lower Egypt; Old, Middle, New, and Nubian Kingdoms all under the Hydraulic Civilization, Egypt.

The main source of the facts I put in the presentation was our book (entitled something like Human Legacy). I started making the powerpoint around 3:30 PM and finished around 1:40 AM. See how productive my Saturday (and Sunday morning) is.

I am really really sleepy right now. Good night folks! See you on my next blog entry!!! :)

Make Up Your Mind

Last week, Myra and I accompanied Roda to Executive Optical ATC Branch to have her eyes checked. We all thought that this would be fast, but it wasn't. Well, the check-up was past, but I was the one who made everything slow.

Myra bought a Chocolate Milk Tea at Gong Cha. I also want a smoothie, I thought. Because J.Co was near, I entered but the prices of their smoothies don't fit my budget (I wasn't expecting that we would go out, so I just brought a small amount of money). Next, I asked them if we could go to Starbucks (just near Makati Supermarket) for me to look for something to drink. But, I still didn't buy anything because I thought that I'll only have an iced tea with my P100. So the ending of this story was, I bought a drink from Gong Cha.

I bought the same flavor that Myra bought. By the way, Myra and Roda stayed outside of the store, so I was the only one inside the store. When I ordered, the cashier asked me what sugar level do I want for my drink. I don't know what to answer, so I just told her to decide for me.
(photo from my Instagram account, mesupercharles)

And I have my drink!!!

All About Ancient Egypt

Hay! This upcoming week, we will have reports about the Hydraulic Civilizations. And unexpectedly, we will report first. My group mates are Tom, RC, and Jane, and we will be presenting facts about Ancient Egypt. And now, I am making my research to have something to share with the whole class using our e-book.
I hope we will be able to answer our classmates' questions and most especially, T. Melvin's.
Wish us luck!!! :)

Jr. SCB 2014-2015

Last Friday, during the first period, the class officers from Grades 4-8 were excused from their classes to elect this year's Junior Student Coordinating Board. This year's organization adviser is Mr. Melvin Nifas. Here are the elected officers for this school year:

President: Charles Denver M. Opague (Grade 8)
Vice President: Maria Sophia Alipit (Grade 7)
Secretary: Joen Choi (Grade 5)
Treasurer: Joel Andrei Ramirez (Grade 8)
Auditor: Robert Constantine Rivera (Grade 8)
PRO: Destiny Mae Scott (Grade 4)

On the same day, during the club time, the newly-elected officers, together with the class representatives, have appointed the committee heads in order to achieve more goals and to be more productive. Here is the list of the committees and their heads:

Environmental Care: Myra Arce (Grade 8)
Special Events: Ezekiel Blanco (Grade 6)
Students' Welfare: Athena Thea (Grade 8)

Well, I am the President. HAHA! I am very nervous and pressured for this year. But I just hope that we would function well as a group to bring out the best for the ones who believed in our capacities and abilities, our classmates / schoolmates. Thank you so much for believing in me! I won't be wasting your votes, and that's for sure.

'PBB' Now on its Last Two Weeks

Last Sunday, during the live telecast of Pinoy Big Brother All In, the local franchise of the Big Brother, Toni Gonzaga, the main host of the show, announced that PBB, as it is called, will just be up for its last two weeks. The Big Night, where they hail this season's Big Winner, will happen in Resort's World Manila.

The Big Night will happen on the 24th, and we're just so lucky because we don't have classes the next day in commemoration of the National Heroes' Day. We, my friends and I, are all so excited to be watching this without any limitations!

Pinoy Big Brother All In still airs after Aquino and Abunda Tonight in ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

Highlights of the First Week of Classes

Now, we are on the 8th Grade! #savvyeight?

Last Tuesday, 8/5, we finally went back to reality - Academic Year 2014-2015 has just begun! And just in the first day, a lot of surprises were revealed and shocked us! We knew that we will have Ms. Luzviminda Quirong as our adviser this year. Other big things that surprised us are as follows:

1. The Rotation of Science Teachers Each Quarter
I think this rotation will give us just the best, and only the best, from the experts of different fields of Science.

We will have Sir Richmond Calunsag (coordinator of Science Department) to teach us Physics and Earth Sciences for the first two quarters. After him, we will have our Grade 7 Science teacher back - Ms. Katrina Villar to teach us Chemistry. And finally, our adviser, Ms. "Luz" will be teaching us Biology. It's our first time to have her. =)

2. Who Is Our Real English Teacher?
That was the question that confused all of us. A period before our English class, we asked one of the teachers from English Department, Sir Kenneth, if he will be our teacher. He simply said no. But when the English period came, he entered our classroom with his things. After a couple of minutes, Miss Johanna Manuel, more commonly known as "Ms. Yo!" entered our room with her things too. We found out that the things weren't Sir Kenneth's. Ms. Yo just asked him to bring them to the class to see our reaction. Well, we are all so happy to have Ms. Yo inside our classroom for the third year! <3

3. Do We Have a Piano Class?
We thought we don't have a Piano class because we kept hearing about Guitar class. But then we have! Nikki, Athena, Roda, Jeff, Sophia, and I signed up for this class having Ms. Jaenna Peralta as our teacher who took her mastery in the US! She also teaches Voice students.

4. The Ever Energetic Mr. Nifas is in the House
We kept asking Mr. Melvin Nifas about our Social Studies teacher but he simply answered us with, "I am not your teacher." But a hint was given to Jane's sisters, Celeen. According to Jane, Sir Melvin told her sister that he will be teaching one of her siblings. Well, it can't be the other two siblings because they are still in K-3. Myra, on the other hand, kept contradicting Jane.

During the first SS class meeting, Myra went out of the room and tried to look for our SS teacher when she suddenly bumped with Sir Richmond. Sir declared that it will be Sir Melvin. That time, my heart was really pounding.

5. New Line Up of Clubs
Yesterday, 8/8, from 1:50 to 3:00, the clubs were presented to the students. We stayed inside the Computer Laboratory.

There were different clubs such as Junior Student Coordinating Board, Mathemagicians, Sci-enthusiasts, Sketchers, Band, STRIPES, Book Lovers, Athletics, Football, and many other clubs. Well, Athena, Myra, and I made a solid choice of going to STRIPES, the official publication / school news paper of MITIS, and the club moderator is Ms. Charms, the newest addition to the English Department.

I'm very excited of what this year has to offer and give all of us! I'm very excited for the infinite possibilities and chances that we will encounter! This year's gonna be tough and fun! PREPARE!

The Most Extraordinary Computer

Last Tuesday, 8/5, our Computer teacher told us that we are now in the “Computer Age” because of the existence of computers, phones, tablets, internet, and other simple things that we use every day (technology). We can say that computers are very genius because, first, they show answers / results to our questions / researches; second, they allow us to socialize with different people from different parts of the world; third, we can be entertained and do whatever we want at our own risk; and lastly, to be able to be heard by the world. But who do you think is smarter: we (who can move, discover, and do what we want) or these computers (non-living but a very reliable material for our everyday life) that almost dominate our life?

"Man is still the most extraordinary computer of all." That was quoted by the former American president, John. F. Kennedy. And I totally agree with him. How could we have genius computers if we do not have genius minds of people? How could computers be created without the existence of curious minds? How could we have computers if there are no wanderer of wonders? We should all thank those behind the internet for making such - a helpful tool for our everyday living.

Another point that will prove that humans are the most extraordinary computer of all is the content of the web. Where would all those things we see when we search something come from? Who makes those websites? Who makes those social networking sites? Who makes those online dictionary, encyclopedia, shopping, and other useful sites? It's the human race. Basically, we are the ones who store knowledge to the computer, and having said that, we are knowledgeable / prodigy.

Indeed, man is the most extraordinary computer for making computers and storing memory to those computers and in the web. As we're experiencing the "Computer Age" or the "Golden Age of Computers," I hope that everyone will still be responsible and cautious of what they do / visit using the web.
